Golf Course Management Courses
Ontario college golf course management programs provide students with a thorough understanding of the business side of golf facilities and operations. General business courses will cover a wide range of subjects, from accounting and business law to human resources, marketing and more.
Although programs vary, specific golf-related courses could include (but aren’t limited to):
- Golf fundamentals
- Turf maintenance
- Membership sales and service
- Golf course design
- Event and tournament planning
Many programs also have co-op work placements or internships where students will put their knowledge into practice and have the chance to network in the industry.
Depending on the program, courses may also focus on recreational management, where students will learn not only about golf management, but also about ski, tennis and arena facilities operation and maintenance.
General Golf Course Management Program Requirements
Golf course management programs offered at the diploma level require an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, including a grade 12 English credit. Some programs also require a grade 11 or 12 math credit and may have a list of additional recommended credits to help students prepare for the course work.
Programs offered at the degree level require an OSSD, with six grade 12 U or M courses. Be sure to check program requirements carefully.
Golf Course Management Jobs and Salaries
Golf management opportunities can be found at golf courses, resorts and other recreational facilities, as well as in golf equipment stores or with distributors and manufacturers. Graduates will be qualified to work in golf-related customer service, food and beverage operations, retail, marketing, maintenance and more.

- Turf Manager
- Golf Professional
- Club Manager
- Facilities Manager
The average starting salary for golf course management jobs is between $30,000 and $35,000 per year. Non-management positions usually have slightly lower salaries, ranging between $25,000 and $30,000.
